Alfonso CidNew York based Spanish Rock band Dientes de Caramelo released their first full length album“Pulpo” (Octopus) in March of 2012. An independent release, Jed Mileythis album was recorded in sessions at the flamenco guitarist Jed Miley’s home studio, Manhattan’s East Village Tu Casa Studios, Mad Dragon Studios at Drexel University in Philadelphia, and mixed at Seaside Lounge Studios in Brooklyn.

The project started taking shape in 2008 when flamenco guitarist Jed Miley and flamenco singer from Sevilla, Spain, Alfonso Cid met while working together at various New York City flamenco venues.  Jed had an idea to combine flamenco with rock music before he left his native Seattle.  They began composing material and establishing a sound with rock guitarist Kevin Martillo Viner (formerly Bookhamer), also from Seattle.

Dientes de Caramelo has given Jed, Kevin and Alfonso the freedom to write music outside of the strict aesthetics of traditional flamenco. Along with the help of rock guitarist Chris Morell from Queens, New York, and jazz fusion bassist Peter Teresi from New Jerse,  Dientes de Caramelo is an American rock band with flamenco vocal sounds and romantic lyrics that reach the essence of the human heart.

Kevin BookhamerThough primarily flamenco artists, both Alfonso and Jed have crossed over genres to play with a variety of artists. Recently, flamenco vocalist Alfonso Cid returned from a sold-out world tour with the famous Latino artist Romeo Santos, including three sold out shows at Madison Square Garden, two shows at Yankee Stadium, both in New York City, as well as Festival de la Canción-Viña 2013 in Viña del Mar, Chile, two appearances at the Arena Ciudad de México on March 2014, and five sold-out shows at the GEBA stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to name a few. Alfonso’s association with Romeo Santos started on July 2011 when he had the honor of recording with Santos and the great flamenco guitarist Tomatito on the song “Mi Santa” from Romeo’s album “Formula Vol. 1”.

Jed also was a cofounder of Dientes’ sister band, Caramelo, of which Alfonso is a member as well, and where flamenco, R&B and funk sounds meet.

Dientes de Peter TeresiCaramelo’s trajectory has taken them to venues through out the USA such as Drom, where they produced a show with their sister band Caramelo and Javier Ruibal, one of Spain’s greatest singer songwriters, as well as Le Poisson Rouge, both in Manhattan, NYC. They also got an invitation by the flamenco fusion band Guitars of Spain to perform at their CD release party at Chicago’s Mayne Stage Theater.

On July 2014 Dientes de Caramelo embarked on a very successful self-promotional tour in Lima, Peru, where they performed twice at the Hard Rock Café Lima, the second time around by special request of the venue’s manager; the Jazz Zone club in Lima’s bohemian Miraflores neighborhood; and two live shows at the studios of the on-line radio station Perú Pop Rock.
